Situated in the heart of the Northern Alps, Chamonix Mont-Blanc lies at the crossroads of three countries (France, Switzerland and Italy). Thanks to its geographical situation the Chamonix Valley benefits from the infrastructure of an international communication network and is within easy reach of most major European capitals.

There are regular direct bus services throughout the year plus additional services during the holiday season. Chamonix and Les Houches also have their own railway stations and the nearby Mont Blanc tunnel enables easy access to Italy.

Chamonix is a year round destination winter and summer, rich in tradition, 200 years of mountaineering history where charm and tradition share the scene with modern facilities. The architectural heritage has been preserved and gives the resort a unique atmosphere. The Chamonix valley stretches over 23 km from Les Houches to Le Tour with several small traditional hamlets in between along the way.

Chamonix village has a population of approximately 10 000 extending to 15 000 in the outlying areas. With hotels, restaurants and shops open all year round this community remains active throughout the year. There is a particularly strong rental market with an already confirmed international clientele.

There are also several small resorts on the outlying areas which benefit from the Chamonix infrastructure.

The main resorts in the Chamonix Valley are Chamonix Mont Blanc, Argentière, Le Tour, Vallorcine, Les Houches and Servoz.
