HAUTE SAVOIE
The Department of the Haute-Savoie in the region of the Rhone Alpes is flagged by the peaks of the Alps mountains where hiking and winter sports are king and is home to some of the best ski resorts in France - Megeve, Chamonix, Avoriaz to name just a few.
The Haute Savoie extends from Lake Geneva in the north to Chamonix in the east and Annecy to the south. It is flanked the Alps of Switzerland and Italy and the department of the Ain and Savoie.
It is quite simply the most beautiful region with spectacular landscapes set against the stunning backdrop of the lakes and mountains. With the mountains peaking at more than 4,800 metres (Mont Blanc), there is snow all year round and this area is well known as a dual season destination. Together with the numerous summer activities, and the obvious skiing in the winter months this is a region which is active throughout the year. This is a plus point for owning property in the Haute Savoie maximising the rental potential all year round. The planning permissions are particularly strict in this area which creates an environment where aesthetically the architecture of the buildings in the villages are all very pleasing.
It is already well known and in high demand from an international clientele due to the infrastructure of the excellent facilities and the many options of access, low cost airlines, scheduled airlines, rail and the excellent connections. Due to this demand the price of property for sale in this region has seen an obvious capital growth in the latter years.
The nearest airports are Geneva, Lyon, Chambery and Grenoble.
